Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has spoken out about the possibility of leaving Elland Road after his sides 4-1 loss to Cardiff on Saturday.??

The Whites are without a win in the Championship since the turn of the year and currently sit 10th in the Championship.

Speaking after the game in his post-match press conference Christiansen explained that he would hold his head high if he went through the exit doors.

“I do my best and I want the best for Leeds,” he said, as quoted by Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer Phil Hay on Twitter.

“If it’s (the club’s) decision that they want to find someone better, I cannot do anything about that. I would then go away but with my head high.”

Christiansen was appointed Leeds boss on 15th June 2017 and made a strong start to life in the Championship, picking up 17 points from his first seven games in charge.

Despite their strong start Leeds have struggled in recent weeks, scoring just five goals in their last six games.

The Yorkshire giants are now seven points off the place-off places and face promotion rivals Sheffield United in their next fixture.

OPINION

Christiansen’s position at Elland Road has come under real scrutiny following his side’s latest defeat, but the Yorkshire giants should continue with him until the end of the season. The same side looked irresistible earlier in the campaign and when they get their best starting XI back they should be able to compete. However, breaking this duck that they are on is the real challenge as the mood in the dressing room must be low. Leeds should give a public vote of confidence to the manager and it’s time some of the senior players in the dressing room step up in the remainder of the season.
