Alan Shearer has ripped into Everton for their first-half performance against Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

The Toffees were trailing 4-0 after the opening 45 minutes as they were torn to shreds at the Emirates Stadium by Arsene Wenger’s team.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey netted a first-half brace for the hosts, while Laurent Koscielny also got in on the act.

The Gunners’ new centre-forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added a fourth on his Premier League debut to leave his side cruising towards three points.

Everton had beaten Leicester 2-1 in midweek during their last league fixtures, but were on course for a defeat away to Arsenal.

Shearer has

“How bad are Everton defensively? They are all over the place!” Shearer wrote on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

Everton were absolutely torn apart in the first-half by an impressive Arsenal team that do possess a great threat in the final third, with new attacker Aubameyang turning in an eye-catching display. Sam Allardyce’s side did not help themselves though and looked a shambles defensively. Defender Eliaquim Mangala has enjoyed a nightmare start to his career with the Merseyside club after he joined on loan from Manchester City. The Toffees need to quickly sort out their defensive problems moving forward and can’t have any hopes of competing for a European spot if they continue in the same poor vein of form.
