Leeds United manager Thomas Christiansen has taken the drastic measure to double training sessions during the international break, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The regional newspaper claims that the 44-year-old has overseen extra sessions with his players and enforced additional work designated to stop the club’s poor run of form.

Stuart Dallas, Pontus Jansson and Eunan O’Kane have been away with their nationaln’s during the two-week break, while their team-mates have been in hard work on the training round.

The Whites return to action at the weekend as they host Middlesbrough on Sunday, with a hostile reception sure to be in order for ex-manager Garry Monk on his return.

The report has claimed that Monk’s players were given a few days off to rest during the internationals and they are a side that have climbed up to fifth in the Championship with their good form.

Meanwhile, the Leeds squad have had no let off and are being worked hard to ensure they are back to their best immediately.

The Yorkshire giants were top of the league back in September, but look a shadow of that team and sit 10th during the international break.

Christiansen’s side have lost six of their last seven league matches and need to end their horror run against Boro if they are to remain within touching distance of the play-off positions.

OPINION

The international break is usually a time for some rest and recovery for players, but Leeds fans will probably be delighted to hear their first team are being worked hard on the training pitches. Christiansen is coming under big pressure following the club’s dip in form and needs a run of decent results to ease pressure at Elland Road. Whites fans can hope that there has been some serious work done behind closed doors on the defence despite the absence of Sweden international, with the side looking very shaky at the back. Leeds’ best form this season came when they were keeping clean sheets for fun and need to return to that if they can as a promotion charge is built on a solid defence.
