Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has dropped a big hint about his future after admitting that players are looked after better in England than in Spain.
De Gea has been a long-term target for Real Madrid after his emergence as one of the world’s premier ‘keepers during his time at Old Trafford.
But now the 27-year-old has suggested that he is happy in England and does not want a move back home, claiming that players are forgotten about too easily if they leave Spain.
As quoted by The Sun, De Gea said: “I think that the players who leave Spain are not paid as much attention as those who stay in Spain and people forget about us a little.
“The English culture cares for and loves its players a lot.”
De Gea has two years left on his current United deal, having already been at the club six years, with the player also having an option to extend the contract by a further year.

While his comments may not be a definitive verdict on his future plans, they most definitely suggest that De Gea is happy at Old Trafford. He seems to think that he has been forgotten about at home, a fact that he is obviously unhappy about. He is one of United’s best players and seems to enjoy the attention that comes with that, with many considering him to be the best goalie in the Premier League. His protracted move to Real has been ongoing for years now, and maybe De Gea has realised that he is happy in Manchester. A move to Real throws up a lot of unknowns for him, especially the Los Blancos’ fickle fan base, and maybe De Gea does not want to risk it. Mourinho’s charges are certainly on the up and are in contention for the title this season, so there is no reason for De Gea to want a move away.
