So, where do Leeds United go from here?

An extended blip is now reaching full-blown crisis point after a sixth defeat from seven matches in all competitions has punctured the balloon of optimism at United generated by their excellent start to the season.

The natives are starting to get restless in the wake of the 2-1 Championship defeat to Derby County at Elland Road on Tuesday night as Leeds blew an early lead to sink to yet another loss.

The same mistakes are being made as the harsh reality is brought home that Thomas Christiansen’s side have an awful lot of improving to do to mount a genuine promotion challenge.

For all the excellence of Samuel Saiz, the one man who consistently delivers for Leeds and is above criticism, the team are a mediocre one who struggle to deliver against fellow promotion rivals.

So, what must Leeds do to return to the red hot side who in mid-September were scoring goals for fun, being Scrooge-like at the back and racking up points with such abandon some fans were contemplating promotion to be wrapped up early in the new year?

This Is Futbol has analysed three things we learned about Leeds from Tuesday’s dispiriting defeat, including why the form of a big-name summer signing is a massive worry for Christiansen and how three defenders must be frozen out.
