Celtic fans took to Twitter to lay into Craig Gordon following their 2-1 Champions League defeat against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night.
The experienced goalkeeper was strongly criticised for his part in the first Bayern goal scored by Kingsley Coman after Dedryck Boyata failed to deal with an agricultural clearance by the visitors’ No1 Sven Ulreich.
The Belgian let the ball drift over his head and Coman pounced before taking full advantage of Gordon racing out of his goal to slot Bayern ahead.
Celtic equalised through Callum McGregor but Javi Martinez’s header secured victory and ended the Scottish champions’ hopes of reaching the Champions League’s knockout stage.
With Paris St-Germain defeating Anderlecht 5-0 in the other Group B game, Celtic cannot finish in the top two positions, although they have an advantage over the Belgian side in the race for third and participation in the Europa League knockout stages.
Celtic fans applauded their team’s bravery, but the majority were hugely critical of established No1 Gordon.
