Murphy unlikely to play again

Blackballed by Garry Monk virtually from day one in the summer of 2016, it was a similar story for the central midfielder soon after Christiansen’s appointment this summer.

Murphy has a contract at Leeds that runs until 2019 but he joined Burton for a second consecutive loan in July, with his latest deal running for the entirety of the season.

The man who was a regular under Steve Evans in 2015-16 has carved out a niche for himself under Nigel Clough in Lincolnshire and has started all 10 of their Championship fixtures this season.

Nevertheless, he is clearly unwanted at Elland Road and a move away from Leeds next summer seems the only conceivable option.
