Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata has revealed on Twitter he is targeting a return in the club’s next game against Crystal Palace contrary to reports he could be sidelined until November.

The Blues travel to Selhurst Park after the international break and could yet still have their in-form striker available for the 14 October clash.

The Mail reported that Chelsea feared Morata could miss the six games during October, which includes four Premier League matches and two Champions League ties.

It was understood the Spain international would face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after being forced off injured with a hamstring strain in the 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

However, Morata has explained on social media that he is working towards a return against bottom of the league Palace.

“I have no time to lose! Working hard towards recovery! (Target emoji) Crystal Palace,” Morata wrote on his official Twitter account.

Morata has made a sensational start to his carer at Stamford Bridge and scored seven goals in nine games across all competitions this season.

He has managed to take over from Diego Costa and has become an instant favourite with Chelsea fans.

However, supporters have been concerned their new hero could miss Premier League matches against Palace, Watford, Everton and Bournemouth, plus a doubler header with Roma in Europe.

Morata is confident he can make a swift return and boost Antonio Conte’s side for their next match.

OPINION

Chelsea should be able to cope without Morata against a very poor Palace side and Michy Batshuayi may even get the nod anyway in that clash. However, they would have really struggled with him for an entire month and it would be a huge boost if he can return fit after the international break. Chelsea can’t afford too many more slip ups if they want to compete for the league title as the two Manchester clubs are six points ahead already at this early stage.
