Leeds United are licking their wounds after suffering their second promotion blow in five days as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat to Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday.

It is an opportunity for manager Thomas Christiansen to analyse what has gone wrong and lay the foundations for a revival in the wake of the international break.

Consecutive away defeats at the hands of Millwall, Cardiff and Wednesday have showed that United are certainly not the promotion shoo-ins some of their supporters were claiming a fortnight ago.

Christiansen is charged with finding solutions within his existing squad after a massive summer overhaul in which 16 new senior players arrived led by headline signings Samuel Saiz, Pierre-Michel Lasogga and Felix Wiedwald.

Fans are digesting Sunday’s setback and wondering how a team that looked the real deal just a fortnight are now spluttering and wheezing with exactly the same personnel.

But there is a handful of players who will surely play no part in Leeds’ plans to get their season and bid for promotion back on track.

This Is FutbolĀ explains why three United players can’t possibly have a future at Elland Road, including a 27-year-old who was once an established member of the first team.
