Leeds United have huge plans for loaned-out full-back Lewie Coyle, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper claim the Championship promotion hopefuls regard Coyle, 21, “as a future first-team right-back” even though he is not part of Thomas Christiansen’s plans for this season.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report that Coyle has made a huge impression while on a season-long loan at League One Fleetwood Town, collecting a series of man-of-the-match awards decided by supporters’ votes.

The right-back’s 11 appearances for the third-tier outfit have yielded an impressive four assists, three of which have come in the league.

Coyle signed a new three-year contract with Leeds that runs until 2020 before he went out on loan.

OPINION

The right-back has made just 23 senior Leeds appearances since graduating from their academy, and there had been question marks over whether he is of the required standard to make it at the Yorkshire giants. But Coyle has hit the ground running at Fleetwood and been a regular starter for the team managed by former Elland Road boss Uwe Rosler. At Leeds, he will have some work to do next summer to make it to the first team. Notwithstanding loanees Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and the versatile Matthew Pennington, Coyle will still have to leapfrog senior full-back trio Luke Ayling, Vurnon Anita, Gaetano Berardi.
