Both Manchester sides are keeping tabs on England Under-21 international winger Jack Harrison, according to the Sun

Harrison came through the Man United youth academy where he played from 2003-2010 with stars like Marcus Rashford, but he left when he couldn’t see a future with the club.

The Sun says that both Manchester clubs are now interested, with Harrison seen as a “late developer after a low-key start to his career”.

He now plays for New York City FC in the MLS and was called up to the England Under-21s for the first time this week.

And Man City’s tie-up with the New York club means that they will get first refusal on his signature.

A source was quoted in the Sun as saying, “City will have first dibs on Harrison at New York if he continues his rapid progress.

“It’s sure to rub United up the wrong way after what happened to him as a kid.”

A good move for United?

Harrison is completely untested at the top level but he is highly rated at New York City and has won himself a call-up to the England Under-21s. He could definitely be one for the future and the time to pounce could be now. It would be vindication for Harrison after failing at United the first time round.

Likely to happen?

Harrison has done things the hard way, leaving Man United to try and grow as a player in the US. He’s made a big impact at New York City FC and has been rewarded with a call-up to the England Under-21s which has got the PL big boys interested. However, Man City look to have first dibs and it would be a bitter pill to swallow for United if they lose him to their bitter rivals, after nurturing him as a youngster.
