Kemar Roofe scored on his recall to the Leeds United team for their 3-1 Championship defeat to Cardiff City – and fans took to Twitter to deliver mixed verdicts on his display.
The attacker, 24, had been omitted from the Leeds starting XI for their previous three league fixtures despite scoring five goals in three matches before he was axed.
But manager Thomas Christiansen made wholesale changes to the team that beat Ipswich 3-2 on Saturday, with Roofe, Stuart Dallas, Mateusz Klich, Pontus Jansson and Gaetano Berardi all recalled to the starting XI.
Roofe was selected to spearhead the attack instead of Pierre-Michel Lasogga, who dropped down to the substitute’s bench.
He scored Leeds’ only goal midway through the second half with a deflected left-foot shot after a neat lay-off from substitute Jay-Roy Grot.
But the Elland Road faithful were not convinced that the move to play the 2016 summer signing as the spearhead of the attack for two-thirds of the game had paid dividends as Cardiff took over from Leeds as the Championship leaders.

Playing Klich not Viera. Playing Roofe up front on his own. Even playing Hernández in these games. Mistakes not to be repeated. #lufc

Might be an unpopular sentiment given the likely result but I feel like Roofe’s made the best of a bad situation tonight. Fair play. #lufc

The thing that frustrates me the most is Roofe alone up top against 3 Cbs… Hes never gonna win the battles against them… #LUFC
