Leeds United lost their position at the top of the Championship after a bruising encounter with Cardiff City on Tuesday night.

It was a tight affair with very few chances in the first half until the game burst to life.

And Leeds were the architects of their own downfall for the opening goal.

Mateusz Klich gave the ball away clumsily in his own half and Cardiff scored within ten seconds, with Junior Hoilett setting up Kenneth Zohore for a tap-in.

Hoilett scored the second with a long-range shot that Felix Wiedwald could have done better with, and Leeds were in the unfamiliar position of being two goals behind.

Ironically, Leeds were brighter in the second half and could have scored early on, but a combination of poor finishing and some smart keeping from Neil Etheridge kept them out.

Instead, Cardiff added a third through Zohore.

Leeds did get a consolation through Kemar Roofe but it was too little, too late.
