David Prutton has predicted Leeds United to beat Sheffield Wednesday when they travel to Hillsborough on Sunday.

The Whites make the short trip to their Yorkshire rivals and will hoping to bounce back from their recent form on the road.

Thomas Christiansen’s side have lost their last two away fixtures in the league, including a 3-1 loss at the hands of Championship leaders Cardiff on Tuesday.

Leeds are currently third in the league standings and have made an impressive start to the new campaign, but will be keen to amend their away form quickly.

They will be without captain Liam Cooper for the clash against Wednesday following his red card, but loanee Matthew Penningotn is set to replace him.

Sky Sports pundit Prutton has tipped Leeds to record a narrow 1-0 win and believes striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga will score the decisive goal.

“Is Carlos Carvalhal starting to feel the strain?” Prutton wrote in his column for Sky Sports. “ It’s been a very poor week for his side after losing the Steel City derby then giving Birmingham their first win in a long time. The pressure is on now.

“Leeds, meanwhile, got battered at Cardiff in midweek and, after two away defeats in a row in the Championship, will need to learn to keep things a bit tighter on the road. But Thomas Christiansen has impressed me so far and I think they’ll nick it at Hillsborough.”

OPINION

Leeds got the better of Wednesday during their two league meetings last season and now is certainly a good time to play Carvalhal’s side. The Owls have lost their last two consecutive games against Birmingham and Sheffield United, which mean they sit 13th in the league table. Leeds have been one of the most impressive teams in the division so far and have the ability to pick up another three points if they play anywhere near their best. Christiansen must recall Lasogga and Samu Saiz to his starting XI against Wednesday, with the deadly attacking duo players that could prove match winners.
