Leeds United should make wholesale changes to the starting XI for Sunday’s mouthwatering Championship showdown against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday afternoon.

Thomas Christiansen made five alterations for the midweek trip to Cardiff City but they backfired as United were overwhelmed in the opening period and ultimately fell to a 3-1 defeat.

The manager got it wrong on Tuesday night and he can make amends by swinging the axe and dumping six of those who struggled to cape against Neil Warnock’s well-drilled outfit.

To get Leeds’ promotion bid back on track, Christiansen must restore craft, energy and nous to his side.

This should mean recalls for those who have been key to the team sitting in third in the league after nearly a quarter of the campaign.

One player who will definitely miss out is skipper Liam Cooper, who will serve a one-match suspension at Hillsborough after receiving two yellow cards culminating in his sending-off against Cardiff.

Christiansen must decide who should partner Pontus Jansson in the centre of defence against 14th placed Wednesday, who have lost their last two Championship fixtures and are in increasingly desperate need of some points.

This Is Futbol has identified Leeds’ best possible starting XI against Wednesday, which includes six changes from midweek and has the calibre to rip Wednesday to shreds:
