Former TV analyst Gaby Ruiz has revealed on social media that he has joined the Leeds United recruitment team as the club’s Spanish invasion continues.

Ruiz has confirmed on his official Twitter account that he has completed a move to the Championship club and has changed his Twitter bio to illustrate his new position.

His only previous job in football was at Championship rivals Middlesbrough under Victor Orta, who has recently been appointed the director of football at Leeds.

Ruiz’s appointment adds further to the Spanish flavour at Leeds in what has been a mass overhaul since the end of the 2016-17 season, which was followed by the departure of former owner Massimo Cellino and ex-manager Garry Monk.

United have appointed an all-Spanish coaching staff to work with new manager Thomas Christiansen, a former Spain international, and the Iberian influx extends to the senior management.

Ex-Real Madrid official Ivan Bravo has been appointed to Leeds’ board of directors and Orta has joined from Middlesbrough, bringing with him goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad and Ruiz, who is the new head of European recruitment.

Ruiz is a well recognised commentator and football analyst in his homeland Spain, where he has worked for various high profile networks.

His Twitter account shows he is currently at the European Under-21s Championship tournament and has posted team sheets on the micro-blogging site in the past few days.
