Jaap Stam is on a shortlist to take over the vacant managerial post at Leeds – and fans on Twitter have stated that they would back the Dutchman if he took charge.
The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed on Saturday that the Reading boss, 44, is on a four-man list of candidates to replace the recently departed Garry Monk at Elland Road.
Former Manchester United defender Stam, who landed his first full-time managerial role last summer, guided the Royals to within a whisker of the Premier League.
In his debut campaign, Stam implemented his Dutch style on Reading and helped them reach the play-off final where they were beaten on penalties by Huddersfield.
Stam’s side, who finished third in the Championship, were heavily reliant on possession and ball retention over the course of the season which resulted in them scoring 68 goals and conceding 64 from their 46 matches.
As a result, one Leeds fans stated that he would happily appoint Stam at Elland Road because he had an “unreal” debut campaign at the Madjeski Stadium.
Another supporter believes that Stam will show “character” if he were to make a switch from Reading to Leeds this summer.
Overall, the Yorkshire faithful were clear that they would back Stam in the dugout if owner Andrea Radrizzani were to appoint him.

Leeds finished outside of the top six during the recently concluded campaign, with their former boss Monk taking over the reigns at Middlesbrough on Friday.
Following his decision to quit the club last month, it remains to be seen what kind of reception he will receive from the fans when he returns to the club next season with Boro.
