Arsenal are in the final stages of securing a deal worth up to £10million for CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, according to sports.ru.

The Russian sports news website claim that the Gunners are in advanced talks with the Russian club for the 21-year-old central midfielder, who has also made 12 appearances for the Russian national team.

They say the deal could cost the North London side up to £10 million, and that CSKA are keen to immediately take the player back on loan once the move is complete.

However, the report also claims that Championship side Hull may also be looking to secure a loan move for the young midfielder, who helped his side secure the Russian league title in 2016.

Golovin has made 54 appearances in total for the Russian side since making his debut in March 2015, including 30 appearances in the last campaign, scoring three goals.

His first senior international appearance came just three months after his club debut, playing 28 minutes in a 4-2 friendly victory over Belarus.

He would face a difficult fight to break into the Gunners’ starting XI were he to remain at the Emirates Stadium, with Granit Xhaka, Aaron Ramsey, Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny all battling it out for a role in Arsene Wenger’s midfield.

In addition, Arsenal are set to welcome back Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla back from injury before the start of next season to further increase the number of options at the French manager’s disposal.
