Victor Lindelof will complete a £35million move from Benfica to Manchester United next Wednesday, according to a Sun report.

The newspaper claims Lindelof, 22, will fly to Manchester to undergo a medical at United on Tuesday night, after representing Sweden in an international friendly against Norway.

It is said the Swedish centre-back will apply the finishing touches to a five-year deal on Wednesday following the completion of his medical.

The Sun report states Lindelof has told friends that he is excited to join the Manchester giants, because it is a “massive club”.

“It’s a done deal,” a source is quoted in the Sun as saying. “There are some very minor things to wrap up and of course the medical.

“He hasn’t wanted to allow the move to distract him from Sweden duty but he will be flying straight to Manchester after the game in Oslo on Tuesday and then undergoing his medical.”

Lindelof was one of Benfica’s top performers last term, making 47 appearances in all competitions, contributing to 26 clean sheets.

He was snapped up by the Portuguese giants from Swedish club Vasteras SK in the summer of 2012, and he spent three seasons with the B team, playing 96 league and cup games.

The 22-year-old then broke into the first team in July 2015, and has been a first choice centre-back for the club ever since, making 73 appearances in all competitions.

The no-nonsense centre-back has been capped by Sweden 12 times, his last appearance coming on Friday night in a 2-1 World Cup qualifying win over France.
