Betting update: Odds tumble on Grayson replacing Monk at Leeds

|

The odds of  Simon Grayson replacing Garry Monk at Leeds have shortened, according to the latest betting odds.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet had priced Grayson, who is the current manager of Preston North End, at 20/1 to replace Monk on Thursday evening.

The price had tumbled to 14/1 on Friday morning after many supporters of the club had claimed on social media they were keen for the 47-year-old to return for a second spell..

Former Premier League boss Monk surprised many when he opted to resign from his job at Elland Road on Thursday afternoon after only one season in charge.

At this moment in time, former Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka is the 4/5 favourite to replace Monk followed by Claudio Ranieri (9/2) and Alan Pardew (8/1).

All three were Premier League managers this term, but they were sacked from their respective clubs, with Ranieri being axed one season after guiding Leicester to a remarkable title win.

However, supporters will be more intrigued with the drop in price for their former boss, who managed the club for a four-year period between 2008-12.

Grayson is currently manager of Champions side Preston, who finished four places below and 13 points behind Leeds this season.

During his time at Leeds, he helped the club earn promotion from League One and then followed it up by a seventh-placed finish the following season before he was sacked by then-owner Ken Bates in 2012.

Despite the sacking, Grayson is still highly regarded amongst the fans and many openly stated that they would like him to make a return.
