Saul Niguez

According to reports from Mirror Football and OK Diario, Arsenal have seen a £23.4million transfer bid for Saul Niguez rejected by Atletico Madrid – but Manchester United are currently in talks with his agent, Jorge Mendes.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in La Liga since becoming a Mattress Makers regular last season, representing Spain 15 times at U21 level and bagging eight goals in 34 appearances across all competitions throughout the current campaign.

Arsenal and Manchester United are both known admirers of the versatile Spaniard, who has featured as a centre-back, a central midfielder, a winger at a No.10 this season, and were both courting his services during the January transfer window.

The Premier League duo were linked once again this month but Mirror Football, who source Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, claim the Gunners have now seen a £23.4million transfer bid rejected by the Vincente Calderon outfit – although they still remain hopeful of agreeing a deal.

According to Spanish outlet OK Diario, however, the Red Devils are currently holding talks with Niguez’ agent, the renowned Jorge Mendes, regarding a summer transfer to Old Trafford. Negotiations have been described as ‘constant’ but United remain unlikely to activate the youngster’s €45million release clause.

That being said, Niguez’ reluctance to sign a new contract with Atletico could force Diego Simeone to sell during the summer transfer window.
