Marc-Andre ter Stegen

According to reports from The Daily Mail, Liverpool and Manchester United are both monitoring Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old is one of the most exciting young goalkeepers in world football, proving as much during his three seasons as Borussia Monchengladbach’s No.1.

But he’s been reserved almost exclusively for Copa del Rey and Champions League action since moving to the Nou Camp in summer 2014 – with Claudio Bravo filling the sticks in La Liga.

The German international has already hinted at his frustration regarding the situation, recently stating; “I am not interested in being the goalkeeper of the future. The future can be a long way off.”

And according to The Daily Mail, Liverpool and Manchester United could look to capitalise during the coming transfer window, amid murmurings Barcelona will sell the 6 foot 2 shot-stopper for the right price.

The Anfield outfit are widely expected to seek an upgrade on Simon Mignolet ahead of next season, whilst United will swoop for Ter Stegen if Real Madrid revive their long-term transfer interest in current Red Devils No.1 David De Gea.
