According to Mirror Football, Manchester United are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid prodigy and Arsenal target Saul Niguez.
The Spain U21 made his debut for the Mattress Makers back in 2012 and featured prominently last season, racking up 35 appearances across all competitions, following an impressive 2013/14 campaign on loan with fellow La Liga side Rayo Vallecano.
He’s rated as one of the Vincente Calderon outfit’s most exciting youngsters, famed for his ability to play in defence or midfield, and has been issued nine league starts by Diego Simeone this season, scoring once.

According to recent reports from The Sun, Niguez was poised to join the Arsenal ranks last month – but Atletico pulled out of the deal after fellow midfielder Tiago was ruled out for the rest of the season with a broken leg.
And it appears Manchester United are looking to capitalise on the situation, with Mirror Football reporting that the Red Devils are in talks to bring the versatile youngster to Old Trafford before the end of the January transfer window.
Atletico are extremely reluctant to sell, however, so Louis van Gaal’s side could be forced to activate Niguez’ £18million release clause.
