Andrew Robertson

According to an exclusive from The Daily Star, Manchester United are monitoring Hull City left-back Andrew Robertson.

All five of the Red Devils’ senior full-backs – Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian, two of whom are converted wingers anyway – are currently sidelined through injury and filling the void at No.3 has proved particularly problematic since the England international’s double leg-break in September.

United failed to recruit a replacement left-back during the January transfer window but it appears to still be a priority for the Old Trafford outfit ahead of the summer, with The Daily Star claiming they’re targeting Hull City’s Andrew Robertson.

The Scotland international struggled to impact during his first season at the KC Stadium as the Tigers plummeted out of the top flight but has impressed this year, grabbing four assists in 30 Championship appearances whilst averaging 1.2 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.2 created chances and 1.2 successful dribbles per match.

United are ‘assessing’ the 21-year-old but are by no means alone in that regard, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly keeping tabs on his progress as well.

Spurs are already well-endowed in the left-back department so news of their interest comes as some surprise. But Kieran Gibbs has been tipped to leave the Emirates at the end of the season and Robertson represents a potential replacement, whilst Pep Guardiola is expected to add at least two full-backs to his squad during his first transfer window at Manchester City.
