Barca ramp up interest in 13-in-11 Arsenal and Liverpool strike target

Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

According to reports from The Daily Star this morning, Barcelona scouts have been running the rule over Arsenal and Liverpool strike target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon international, dubbed ‘the African Neymar’, has claimed 62 goals in 112 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, including a career-best 26 goals across all competitions last term and a prolific 13 goals in eleven Bundesliga outings this season.

The Daily Star moot Arsenal as long-term admirers of Aubameyang’s following reported interest during the summer, whilst Liverpool have been consistently linked with the Black-Yellows front-man in recent weeks amid injuries to strikers Daniel Sturridge, Christian Benteke and Danny Ings.

But he’s known to be on Barcelona’s radar as well and The Star now claim club scouts were present during Dortmund’s 3-1 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday. Ironically, it was only the fourth outing of the season in which Aubameyang failed to find the net.

And the 6 foot 1 striker has already revealed his desire to play for one of La Liga’s top clubs. He told BBC world service last week; “One day I’ll leave to play in another league. My dream is to play in Spain. After that contract [expiring in 2020] I have this dream to play in Spain. I hope that will happen but when? I don’t know.

“Lots of people think that the Premier League would good for me but my mum is Spanish and I really have that dream to play over there. After that maybe one day the Premier League but for the moment I aim to one day play in Spain.”
