According to reports from The Daily Star, Everton and Liverpool are set to scrap it out for the services of Cristian Tello following comments from the winger’s agent.

The 24 year-old is perhaps best known for his Barcelona tenure, amassing 20 goals in 86 appearances for the Nou Camp outfit and playing a particularly influential rule during their march to the 2012/13 La Liga title – a campaign which saw him net seven times in 22 outings.

The Spain international joined FC Porto on a two-term loan deal last summer and has since recorded seven goals in 36 Primeira Liga appearances, but he’s known to still be of interest to long-term admirers Everton and Liverpool.

And according to The Star, the transfer efforts of the Merseyside rivals have been boosted by recent comments from Tello’s agent. Representative Josep Maria Orobitg has revealed his client has no interest in returning to the Nou Camp, whilst his future at Estadio do Dragao is not exactly certain.

Orobitg told Portuguese publication O Jogo; “Tello and I have already told Barcelona that he does not want to return to Camp Nou. And Barcelona do not want to have any players who would rather be elsewhere. His future is not at Barcelona.

“Tello would like to stay at Porto. He really wants to stay put and we are not just saying this to give him a good image. He loves Porto and has always been treated very well. It all depends on what Porto want. We have not heard anything yet. If Porto don’t want him to stay, he will move on. There is plenty of interest from other countries. His priority is to stay at Porto, though.”
