According to reports from The Daily Star this afternoon, Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could be set for a reunion with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool in January.
The Gabon international, once dubbed ‘the African Neymar’, has bagged 62 goals in 111 appearances for the Black-Yellows since being brought to Westfalenstadion by the now Anfield gaffer in summer 2013.
That includes a career-best 26 goals across all competitions last term and an incredible 13 goals in just 10 Bundesliga outings this season, firing Dortmund to second in the league table.
Aubameyang signed a contract until 2020 in July but that hasn’t nullified widespread interest in the 6 foot 1 striker, with The Daily Star claiming he’s now being targeting by Liverpool, PSG and European champions Barcelona.
Arsenal and Manchester United were both linked during the summer and after failing to add to their respective strike-forces, could well revive their interest if a formal bid is made by one of the 26 year-old’s aforementioned suitors.
According to The Express, however, Aubameyang has ‘distanced’ himself from an Anfield move by revealing his desire to play in Spain. They quote the former St. Etienne star as saying; “I’ve always dreamed of playing in Spain. I am very happy at Dortmund… but everyone knows that in the world of football things can change quickly.”
