Arda Turan

According to reports from The Express this afternoon, Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan has dismissed reports claiming he’s set to sign for Barcelona via his Twitter account.

The 28 year-old will be leaving Vincente Calderon this summer after claiming a Europa League title, a Copa del Rey and a La Liga title during his four year spell with the Mattress Makers, as his agent confirmed last week.

Agent Ahmet Bulut alleged ‘three teams…the best in English and European football’, to be courting the Turkey skipper’s services – believed to be Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United – and followed up on Tuesday by declaring his future would be decided within the next four days.

But rumours of interest from Barcelona emerged on Friday, leading some sources to claim the European champions have already held ‘advanced talks‘ with the 28 year-old, whose Atletico contract includes a £29million release clause, and others to speculate a deal had been all but officially agreed.

According to The Express, however, the attacking midfielder has insisted he’s not currently in negotiations with the Nou Camp outfit. Turan wrote on Twitter this afternoon; “Reports about my move are not correct. I am on holidays and resting.” His agent then corroborated in an interview with Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, claiming he’s never held talks with Barcelona.

That suggests Turan will be heading to the Premier League after all; but whether its with Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United remains to be seen. Yesterday afternoon, The Guardian claimed he’d been offered to the Premier League champions.

Smacks of making up stories to me, Turan has never said he is leaving and quite frankly I am not sure he is quality enough for us at United

infact guys, arda turan is a quality player, he would be perfect for manutd, he can defend, attack, dribble, frankly speaking he can bolster our attack. i wish he chooses utd or else it can be a disaster for other premier league teams if he joins chelsea.
