According to reports from AS in English this morning, Manchester United are ready to make a final €60million bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

The 2010 World Cup winner’s future at the Bernabeu is shrouded in serious doubt following allegations from Barcelona presidential candidate Jordi Majo last month; who claims he was recently offered the centre-back as an ‘electoral asset’ for the club’s ballot on July 18th.

It’s believed to have been a ploy to secure the Spain international a better contract in Madrid but has now lead to a series of bids from Manchester United and interest from their local rivals Manchester City.

The Red Devils have already launched a £32million bid this week that – according to AS – was immediately rejected by the Bernabeu outfit, who value the 29 year-old at around double that sum.

But United are determined to make one final offer before giving up on Ramos and are now preparing a €60million bid, which converts to just under £42million.

That would make Ramos the most expensive defender in footballing history after €50million PSG man David Luiz, but Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has recently insisted the 6 foot defender isn’t for sale.
