According to reports from The Metro this afternoon, Juventus are willing to part with in-demand midfielder Paul Pogba this summer for £58million – a slight but significant reduction on the £70million fee currently circling the tabloids.
Since swapping Old Trafford for the Old Lady in summer 2012 by way of a free transfer, the former Manchester United youngster has emerged as one of the most complete centre-mids in world football, boasting an eclectic mix of physicality, technical quality and netting prowess.
As This Is Futbol revealed in May, no less than seven top clubs are believed to be courting the 22 year-old’s signature following his third consecutive Serie A title with Juve, namely Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea, PSG, Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United – but some have been put off by his widely-rumoured £70million price-tag.
According to Italian journalist Ghilda Pensante, however, who is quoted by The Metro, the Turin outfit would be prepared to sell the France international for £12million less.
“They will just wait and only consider any official offers over £58million – no less,” she said. “So we will have to see if there is an offer from Man City or other big clubs.”
Whether this news enhances Pogba’s likelihood of arriving in the Premier League this summer remains to be seen.
