June represents a rather unique time of year on the transfer calendar. Clubs from the Premier League and yonder announced their release lists earlier this week, whilst its the only month teams are allowed to negotiate pre-contract deals with players from the same country.

Resultantly, free transfers in vogue at the minute; Liverpool have made three already in Adam Bogdan, James Milner and Danny Ings.

But we’ve always been more of a foreseeing bunch here at This Is Futbol, so we’re turning our attentions to next summer – or more specifically, those players whose contracts will expire in a year’s time. The fear of losing a player for free tends to drive down clubs’ valuations somewhat, so it’s a pretty good method for sourcing quality on the cheap.

And it’s with that in mind we’ve created this list of the eleven players Manchester United should be targeting during the summer transfer window, who all have one thing in common; they’re on the verge of entering the final twelve months of their current deals.

Should United take advantage of these eleven contract situations this summer?
