Raheem Sterling

According to reports from The Express this morning, Manchester City have increased their bid for Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling to £35million.

The England international’s Anfield future is in serious doubt with his contract set to expire in 2017 and agent Aidy Ward recently claiming he wouldn’t pen extended terms ‘even for 900k per-week’, as This Is Futbol revealed in May.

That, in combination with him lifting Europe’s Golden Boy award for 2014, has generated interest in Sterling from the Premier League and yonder. Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Manchester City were all linked in May, whilst Manchester United and Real Madrid have emerged more recently as potential suitors.

The Citizens have certainly been the most proactive thus far in attempting to attain the 20 year-old’s signature, however. They saw a £25million-plus-incentives bid rejected last week and have now upped their offer to £35million, which could rise to £40million dependent on bonuses.

Liverpool are yet to make an official response but its more than likely they’ll reject City’s proposal. As reported by This Is Futbol on copious occasions, the Reds rate Sterling at £50million and are refusing to budge on their valuation.
