Out - Raheem Sterling

According to reports from The Daily Mail this morning, manager Brendan Rodgers expects Raheem Sterling to see out the remainder of his contract at Liverpool.

As This Is Futbol revealed earlier this week, the wantaway winger, who rejected a contract extension worth £100k per-week earlier this season, was expected to demand a summer departure in his meeting with Reds chief executive Ian Ayre, scheduled for this afternoon.

But the Anfield hierarchy have decided to cancel the meeting following comments from Sterling’s agent Aidy Ward, who told The Evening Standard yesterday that the England international ‘wouldn’t sign for £900k per-week’ whilst branding Liverpool-icon-turned-pundit Jamie Carragher ‘a knob’.

As This Is Futbol revealed yesterday, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United are all believed to be considering summer bids for the 2014 Golden Boy winner.

But Rodgers has now insisted the 20 year-old won’t be sold during the coming transfer window or next summer, and that he expects Sterling to see out the two remaining years of his contract.

“It’s very difficult to comment on what other people speak about,” said the Liverpool manager. “We have always been clear. It will always be dealt with internally and we look to do thing privately. The concentration for myself is to continue to improve Raheem as a footballer.

“Whether there are talks or no talks, he has two years left and I expect him to be here. It is quite simple.

“I don’t see Raheem being unhappy. His representative made it very clear he wanted to speak at the end of the season. I’m sure talks will take place over the summer,” he added.
