According to reports from The Daily Star yesterday evening, prolific front-man Jackson Martinez has confirmed he’ll be leaving FC Porto this summer.
The Colombian international boasts a sensational haul of 92 goals in 132 appearances since signing for the Dragons in summer 2012 and has just come to the end of his most potent campaign to date, netting 32 times in all competitions. That includes eight goals in European competitions.
His £24.8million release clause, as reported by The Evening Standard, has become common knowledge in recent weeks. Consequentially, This Is Futbol revealed interest from Liverpool and Manchester United last month, whilst reports last week suggested Arsenal has already agreed a deal in principle to sign the 28 year-old.
Meanwhile, Porto are believed to be already targeting Martinez’ replacement in Celta Vigo front-man Nolito – as This Is Futbol revealed in May.
And according to reports from yesterday, the former Chiapas star has now confirmed he’ll be leaving the Portuguese outfit.
“I’m leaving Porto. I’m focused on the national team at the moment, but I’m waiting to see what my future holds,” Martinez told a Portuguese Radio Station.
