Carlos Bacca

According to reports from The Express yesterday evening, Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca is being targeted by three Premier League clubs.

The Colombian international has enjoyed continuously strong form since moving to Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan from Club Brugge in summer 2013, firing Sevilla to consecutive Europa League titles with 49 goals in 106 appearances for the La Liga outfit – including 14 in 31 from the continental competition itself.

That, in combination with the 28 year-old’s €30million release clause – as reported by ESPN in October 2014 – and his direct, physical style of play, has attracted interest from some of England’s top clubs.

Arsenal and Manchester United were both mooted as potential suitors some time ago, as This Is Futbol revealed last month, whilst The Express claim Liverpool are in the mix too.

But Bacca’s agent, Sergio Barila, has insisted his client will discuss his options with Sevilla before making an decisions on his immediate future.

“First of all we have to talk to Sevilla out of respect for the club,” the striker’s agent recently told reporters.

“If the player is put on the market, there’s a chance he will leave. Carlos would like to stay in Europe and next year Sevilla are in the Champions League which he’s happy about because he wants to play in it.

“He is fine here with his family but if there’s a good opportunity for Bacca and Sevilla, we will take it into consideration. For now I cannot say if he’ll leave or not, I must first consult with the directors,” he added.
