With the Premier League season now drawn to a close, we at This Is Futbol are very excited to find out what England’s top clubs will be up to in the transfer market this summer.

Manchester United, for example, are expected to keep themselves particularly busy in the coming window as they attempt to reclaim their first Premier League title since the resignation of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, with some sources – such as The Daily Mail – claiming manager Louis van Gaal will be handed yet another £150million transfer war-chest.

This Is Futbol are getting a little tired of all these big-money deals, however. Money is the route of all evil, after all. So in an effort to stand out against the grain, we’ve listed the twelve best value-for-money signings the Red Devils could make this summer.

Some are bosman-bound bargains, others are forgotten men needing a fresh start and a few are reportedly available for a pittance. But pound-for-pound, all are amongst the best deals on the market.

Good list, there are several players there who would represent an upgrade to Man Utd’s starting XI.

Alves, Cech and Pedro would be a big step-up (assuming De Gea leaves) and like you said, de Jong would offer them the solidity and aggression they are missing in midfield.

I would give Schweinsteiger a miss though – his injury record worries me. Absolute quality though, that is undeniable.

P.S. What’s not to like about James Milner? He supports Leeds!
