According to reports from The Express this morning, FC Porto have identified their preferred replacement for star striker Jackson Martinez, who has been mooted as a potential target of Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Colombian international has scored 88 goals in 128 appearances for the Dragons since joining them from Mexican side Chiapas in summer 2012 – this season netting 28 times across all competitions.
Tall, powerful, quick and nicknamed ‘Cha Cha Cha’ for his dance-like grace inside the box, the 28 year-old has often been labelled as a good fit for the Premier League, with links to England continuous over the last few years.
If Martinez is to move to the English top flight, the chances are that it will happen this summer. Firstly, his £29million release clause comes into effect, and secondly, Porto are reportedly targeting his replacement in Celta Vigo striker Nolito. The former Benfica front-man has netted 25 La Liga goals over the last two seasons for the Balaidos outfit.
Martinez is considered to be a potential target for Liverpool and Manchester United, who are both expected to reshuffle their respective strike-forces in the coming transfer window.
