Journalist Liam Kennedy has admitted to being impressed by the appointments PIF have made behind the scenes at Newcastle United.

Newcastle’s new owners appear to have got pretty much everything spot on since buying the club, from bringing in the right managerial appointment to most of their signings hitting the ground running.

Off the pitch, PIF were patient with their pursuit of Dan Ashworth, while they’ve brought in CEO Darren Eales and most recently brought in Peter Silverstone as the club’s Chief Commercial Officer, who is working on growing the club commercially.

Appointments such as these have certainly left Kennedy impressed, as he revealed on the NUFC Matters YouTube channel.

He said: “This approach that they’re taking at the moment, where they’re bringing in lots of people in, in key positions, treating every part of the football business with the care that it deserves, making sure the right people are in the right jobs, making the right decisions, then that’s the type of club that is built for sustainable success – and that’s the biggest thing about this.

“Newcastle United might not finish in the Champions League this year, they might not finish in the Europa League positions this year, but it does feel like they’re a club heading in the right direction.”

TIF Thoughts on PIF’s time at Newcastle…

Despite a lot of criticism from the wider media about how the club was allowed to be purchased by PIF, they haven’t let that affect them, and have silenced people with actions in terms of turning the fortunes of the club around very quickly.

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

PIF have managed to take Newcastle from relegation candidates to top-four hopefuls in just over 12 months, and while the £200m+ that’s been spent has helped, a lot of the players pre-takeover are still at the club and playing their part.

Newcastle’s owners are doing everything right from integrating the women’s team into the club and appointing people into key positions as opposed to leaving it to one man, as it was under Mike Ashley.
