Leeds United have now been linked with a potential January move for the Flamengo striker Pedro who has been on their radar for a long time.

And presenter Ger Lynch has insisted this would be a major move for Victor Orta to approve as he spoke on his latest YouTube video.

According to reports, the Whites are monitoring the 25-year-old and have been doing so since Marcelo Bielsa was in charge at the club.

First up, which of these World Cup debutants could Leeds go back in for this winter?

According to Transfermarkt, Leeds’ current record transfer is Brenden Aaronson, who signed in the summer for a fee believed to be worth in the region of €32.8m (£27.5m).

And Lynch believes to bring in a player like Pedro, the West Yorkshire side would be pushing the boat out and would likely have to break the bank to do so:

“He will be an expensive player if Leeds do look to sign him. You’re talking probably breaking the transfer record, which doesn’t say an awful lot because it’s not that high, but it would be a major move if Leeds were to move for him.”

TIF Thoughts on Lynch’s comments…

Leeds have had their issues with strikers over recent seasons with their main man, Patrick Bamford, struggling massively with a number of injury issues.

Would Pedro be an improvement on Rodrigo?

Yes

No

No

Pedro has provided a return of 61 goals for the Brazilian outfit over his 149 appearances in all competitions with 29 of those coming over the 2021/22 campaign.

However, if Leeds were to break their transfer record for a new striker then we think it needs to be for a player who is going to guarantee them goals.

And looking at Pedro’s record, we would find it difficult to say he would arrive in the Premier League and become a Bamford successor.
