Journalist Dan Kilpatrick has slammed Tottenham Hotspur player Ivan Perisic for his recent performance despite the club’s victory at the weekend.
In their latest Premier League fixture, Spurs claimed a solid 2-0 win at home thanks to second-half goals from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Indeed, Antonio Conte’s men brushed off Everton in front of their fans and will keep themselves third in the league as a result.
Despite this, it seems as though not everyone in a Tottenham shirt did quite enough to earn the praise of the media. For instance, in the player ratings for the Evening Standard, Kilpatrick singled out Perisic for his inability to shine in a 6/10 display.
Evidently underwhelmed, he wrote: “Flung in some dangerous crosses but still yet to really make his mark on the Premier League.”
TIF Thoughts on Ivan Perisic and Spurs…
In fairness to Kilpatrick, Perisic doesn’t fare that well when you look at his stats from the game. According to SofaScore, he lost the ball a whopping 23 times – more than anyone else on the pitch.
On top of that, the Croatian also won just one out of five ground duels, failed with his only dribble attempt, and completed just 77% of his passes.
For Spurs, what is most important is the win, but Perisic has picked up player ratings of 6.3 and 6.2 from SofaScore in the two league games coming into this weekend, so it’s easy to see why Kilpatrick has outlined his concerns after another afternoon where he failed to impress.
