Presenter John McGinley has praised Celtic midfielder Aaron Mooy after his fine display in the club’s most recent league victory.

In the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, the Hoops smashed Hibernian at home, winning 6-1 in front of their own fans as James Forrest stole the show.

Indeed, he netted a hat-trick – taking his Celtic tally to 100 goals in the process – while Giorgos Giakoumakis also claimed a double and Daizen Maeda put the cherry on top with a sixth.

Despite Forrest’s heroics, it seems as though Mooy also did enough for his performance to earn the plaudits, with McGinley taking to Twitter to make his feelings known.

Indeed, he wrote: “Aaron Mooy was very good today. Easily his best game for Celtic and a promising sign there’s still more to come from him.”

It seems as though the midfielder’s efforts were noticed elsewhere, too. For instance, in the GlasgowLive player ratings, he was handed a 7/10 for his ‘composed’ display and even compared to former player Scott Brown.

Journalist Ryan Thom wrote: “Composed performance in the engine room. More Scott Brown-esque than McGregor picking the ball from deep. Provides assurance to the Hoops’ backline and won everything in a midfield missing its captain. Close to his first goal with late chance.”

Having completed the full 90 minutes, Mooy managed to claim two assists, deliver three key passes, create one big chance, complete 84% of his passes and win three tackles (via SofaScore).

On top of that, according to WhoScored, Mooy registered an 8.23 match rating, which is by far his best for the season. Seeing as he only joined Celtic in the summer, it is probably fair to say this indeed was his best game for the club.
