Journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke has told Tottenham Hotspur supporters not to ‘read too much into’ Harry Kane’s recent quotes about his future.

According to reports, the Spurs striker could be a wanted man in the near future. Indeed, German giants Bayern Munich have been linked with a move for the Englishman.

Addressing these rumours while speaking to the press ahead of his club’s Champions League clash with Eintracht Frankfurt, Kane called Munich a ‘top club’.

In full, he said (via The Sun): “I’m focused on Tottenham Hotspur and trying to do my best for us.

“Bayern are a top, top club – but all my concentration is on Tottenham and trying to win tomorrow night.”

While discussing the quotes on The View from The Lane podcast, Pitt-Brooke said that this deal isn’t likely to happen and he was just being polite.

He said: “I wouldn’t read too much into Kane saying Bayern are a top, top club, that’s just politeness – and it’s also true.

“I don’t get the impression at all that there is any likelihood of it happening. That’s just my reading of the situation at the moment.”

TIF thoughts on Harry Kane and Spurs…

Seeing as Kane very nearly forced a move to Manchester City back in the summer of 2021, there is no guarantee that he sees his long-term future at Spurs – especially after praising Munich publicly amid their reported interest.

On top of that, his contract expires in 2024, so there could be a window of opportunity opening up that could see him leave if he doesn’t commit to Tottenham.

However, he has started this season brilliantly – with 9 league goals in 10 games – so he may well be perfectly happy staying put. With Pitt-Brooke downplaying the latest talk, it does seem as though a lot will have to change before this possible transfer starts to look like it could actually happen.

All in all, Spurs fans probably don’t have to be too concerned about possibly losing Kane – after all, aside from a few loans, he’s been at Tottenham for his whole career, and will surely feel loyal to the club despite this flattering interest.
