Newcastle are aiming to sit down and discuss improved terms with Bruno Guimaraes.

That’s according to transfer guru Dean Jones who has been speaking to This Is Futbol.

The midfielder only arrived on Tyneside for £40m back in January signing until 2026 but it is thought that he could quickly depart for pastures new.

As quoted by the Mirror the Brazilian admitted that he was approached by Real Madrid in the summer and described it as the “best club” in the world although he did claim that no “project” worldwide could match that of the Toon.

Nevertheless, Jones has now told TIF that is Newcastle are keen to go over personal terms with the eight-cap Brazil maestro.

He said“They can’t stand the thought of him leaving. So there’s definitely intent to sit down and talk numbers and how they can extend his stay and keep him satisfied.

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Is Bruno Newcastle's best January signing?

Yes

No

Guimaraes currently earns £120k-per-week in the north-east but the Daily Mail have claimed that PIF are desperate to stave off interest and will look to tie down their star man this summer.

However, those talks could be brought forward with the same source suggesting that Barcelona and Manchester City may look to test the Tynesiders’ resolve.

Journalist Julien Laurens previously suggested on the Totally Football Show that there will come a point where Bruno is “far too good for Newcastle” and there will always be doubt surrounding his future given the midfielder’s potential.

But a revised deal would certainly leave the club in a strong negotiating position either way and given their strong start to the campaign, attaining European football would likely persuade the 5 ft 9 gem to stick around.
