Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers could face a struggle to contain a Leeds United side that “will really fancy this game” when the latter travel to the King Power Stadium on Thursday evening.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news during a set of midweek Premier League fixtures.

Rodgers is currently under severe pressure, with Leicester guaranteed to be rooted to the bottom of the Premier League ahead of the visit of Leeds on Thursday, after having won one game so far this season.

There have been questions over the future of the Northern Irishman in the East Midlands, with talkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan stating that he believes Rodgers is “done” at the King Power Stadium.

And Jones believes that this game against Leeds could have come at a bad time for the former Celtic manager.

“The fear for the manager here will be that Leeds will really fancy this game.

“And that could be really bad news for Brendan at a time when the fans are turning on him too.

“I think Leeds have been on the verge of a good result and they’ll really fancy this.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones comments…

We agree with Jones and believe that Jesse Marsch’s side will fancy their chances of getting a result out of Leicester, and a defeat for Rodgers could be the final nail in his coffin.

However, we wouldn’t write off the 49-year-old manager yet after he managed his side to a stunning 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the beginning of the month in what could be a season defining result.

But, with Leeds sitting four points above last season’s Europa Conference League semi-finalists, we think that Rodgers really cannot afford to lose this game if he is to have a future at Leicester.
