During an appearance on TalkSport’s Game Day podcast, Alex Crook slammed Nottingham Forest star man Jesse Lingard for his ‘poor’ start to the season after his big move.
The former England international made his controversial move to Forest this summer after rejecting the chance to join his former club, where he shone on loan. This decision garnered a lot of criticism from both pundits.
However, he has not had the best start to life at his new club since leaving Manchester United and now has received further criticism from Crook, who slammed the player on the Game Day podcast.
He said: “But he’s [Jesse Lingard] not proved me wrong so far, I said he was there for the money. I think he’s been poor.”
TIF Thoughts on Lingard…
So far this season Lingard has played in five of their six Premier League games this season for 400 total minutes and is yet to score or assist for the Reds and was dropped for their embarrassing 6-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
Did Lingard make the wrong decision?YesNo |
When looking at his Fbref stats, it does not get any better for the midfielder. Compared to other midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues he currently ranks in just the 19th percentile for assists, 47th for shot-creating actions and 48th for non-penalty goals.
Lingard has been shockingly poor this season, he opted for a big paycheck and a potential relegation battle instead of playing in Europe with West Ham United. If he does not pick up his form soon there is no doubt he will struggle to spark interest from a team as good as the Hammers again.
