Nottingham Forest have been handed a blow to their transfer plans this summer with regard to their reported interest in Sergio Reguilon.

This has been suggested by Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking on his Here We Go podcast when discussing Forest’s hopes for the remainder of the summer.

It has been reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein that the Spanish left-back is a player who Steve Cooper’s side have on their radar ahead of the final week of the window.

Reguilon has been omitted from Antonio Conte’s plans at Spurs this summer, having not been included in the pre-season squad and reportedly made to train away from the first-team players at Hotspur Way.

However, despite the 25-year-old clearly not being in the plans of the Italian manager in N17, Romano does not believe he is keen on a move to the City Ground.

He said: “A lot of rumours on Nottingham Forest. I’m told, at the moment, the player has different priorities. So it’s a no, but let’s see what happens with Sergio Reguilon, who is an important player.”

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Reguilon – hailed “quality” by ex-Premier League striker Noel Whelan – was tipped for big things when he joined Spurs and has even attracted reported interest from La Liga giants Barcelona.

Would Reguilon start ahead of Toffolo?

No

However, the left-back has lacked consistency, with just nine assists to his name over 67 appearances made in all competitions for the north London side.

Meanwhile, Harry Toffolo has now made a bright start to life at the City Ground having played every minute of the opening three games in the top flight for the Reds.

So we do not think Reguilon’s rejection is devastating news for Cooper’s side, although his arrival could have made for an interesting battle for the starting spot down the left side.
