Tottenham Hotspur will only allow Bryan Gil and Japhet Tanganga to depart over the next week if they have quality players lined up to replace them.
This has been suggested by Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas, who has been speaking on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel to discuss the Lilywhites’ transfer plans.
Gil is a player who is being strongly linked with another departure on loan to Valencia in the coming days, with a deal now believed to be in the final stages.
And Japhet Tanganga is reportedly a target of Milan and Nottingham Forest, with the defender believed to prefer the potential switch to the Italian champions.
With both players potentially departing N17 before next week’s deadline, Thomas believes Fabio Paratici will be working hard to find possible replacements for the duo.
He said: “I think if Tottenham are going to be prepared to let either of them go, then I know and I’ve been told that they want to have quality replacements, better players, ready to come in.”

This is promising news as both players have played a part – albeit minor – in the opening three games of the new Premier League campaign, with Gil included in all three of Antonio Conte’s matchday squads and Tanganga missing just the first game against Southampton.

Therefore, you would assume that despite the rumours, there would be game time available at some point for both players – hence the desire to source replacements of a certain quality.
A big emphasis seems to have been put on this summer’s window by Conte on improving his squad depth, and allowing two squad players to depart without replacing them adequately would surely not go down well with the Italian.
