Tottenham Hotspur right-back Emerson Royal may now be set to remain in north London this summer having put in another strong display at the weekend.

This is according to Alasdair Gold, who has been discussing the Brazilian’s future on his latest YouTube video after victory on Saturday in the Premier League.

Emerson has now started all three of Tottenham’s league games this season and featured for the full 90 minutes against Bruno Lage’s Wolves side (via Transfermarkt).

However, he has been linked with a potential exit from Spurs this summer, with Atletico Madrid credited with an interest in the 23-year-old.

But having made a strong start to the new campaign, Gold now believes the right-back may now remain in north London with less than two weeks remaining of the summer window.

He said: “Unless a big bid or a tempting bid comes in and Spurs agree to it – but also probably most importantly, Emerson Royal thinks it’s a good move for him – then he may well be sticking around.

“It kind of seems mad to go and suggest otherwise when he has started all three of the games so far.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

It has definitely been a bright start to the new campaign for Emerson, who has already equalled last season’s total of one assist in the Premier League.

Would you sell Emerson this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

But Conte now has a selection headache of having three players in one position, with Matt Doherty featuring on the bench and Djed Spence not even making the squad.

Doherty is on the road to recovery having sustained a serious injury last season, so we will be interested to see who Conte chooses to start when the Irishman returns to full fitness.

With previous interest in Emerson from Atletico Madrid, it will be interesting to see if his early season form has attracted any further interest ahead of the final days of the window and whether Spurs could be tempted to allow him to go if the right offer arrives.
