Tottenham Hotspur have made contact over the possibility of making a move for the Leicester City man James Maddison.

This has been suggested by the transfer guru Dean Jones who has been speaking about the Lilywhites’ interest in Maddison on the Ranks FC podcast.

Antonio Conte has certainly been backed by the Spurs board this summer with six new signings already through the door and Richarlison brought in to bolster their attacking options.

However, it now seems the north London club have turned their focus to signing a luxury attacking midfielder in the coming weeks with a healthy chunk of their £150m cash injection still available.

Maddison now only has two years remaining on his Leicester deal and with Spurs being long-term admirers of the midfielder, Jones believes the Lilywhites have now touched base over his availability:

(17:00) “And I checked it out. They’ve definitely touched base over this. And the door is open for this to happen. But the problem is it’s going to cost a lot of money probably be over £50m, I reckon to get Maddison.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We think this could be a great move from Spurs if it is something which they pursue this summer. Maddison shone for the Foxes last season and the 25-year-old will be going into the new campaign hungry with the World Cup coming up.

Should Spurs go big for Maddison this summer?

Adding to this, it seems Leicester have found themselves in a tricky situation transfer-wise with the Midlands club now believed to be open to the possibility of selling a player of Maddison’s ilk.

It still feels as if it would take a big-money offer to see Leicester part ways with Maddison, however, if an expensive centre-back like Alessandro Bastoni is now off the cards, then it could lead to an exciting end to the summer in N17.
