Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs that are already showing an interest in the 19-year-old RB Salzburg striker, Benjamin Sesko.

This is according to the transfer journalist Ryan Taylor who has been speaking on his YouTube channel about the latest news amid the summer window.

Spurs have made an impressive start in the market with the addition of four new faces already, however, Taylor believes Fabio Paratici is already eyeing up targets for the upcoming windows.

Richarlison has been acquired from Everton to provide Harry Kane with some back-up, however, it is suggested Spurs may already be looking for their long-term successor for the England captain.

Although Taylor does not believe Spurs are looking to move in on Sesko this summer, he does suggest Paratici has set a focus on monitoring his progression over the 2022/23 campaign:

(1:40) “But I wrote in this morning’s [Tuesday] column that Tottenham are one of several clubs monitoring Red Bull Salzburg forward, Benjamin Sesco.”

“Now as I touched upon Tottenham, as I understand it, are one of several clubs that are continuing to monitor his progress. It’s not something that’s imminent at the moment. So I don’t expect Tottenham to make a move as such.

“He’s just one of the young strikers that they’re watching. And Fabio Paratici is understood to be a big fan of him. And Tottenham scouts are going to continue to assess him in the upcoming season.”

TIF Thoughts on Taylor’s comments…

Sesko, who has been dubbed ‘mini Haaland’, made his first steps in the Austrian Bundesliga last season with 24 appearances which saw him return five goals and three assists (via Transfermarkt).

Is it too early to be searching for Kane's successor?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Given Salzburg have had a number of success stories come from their former strikers – Erling Haaland and Karim Adeyemi, to name just two – there will be an obvious focus on Sesko’s progression.

And we think this is something in which Tottenham should probably be considering now with Kane coming up to 29 years old later this month.

The England captain is very much in his prime, however, it is uncertain how long this will last and Spurs will have to consider the possibility of Kane not putting pen to paper on a new deal.
